The Annual Sports Meet cum Prize Distribution Ceremony 2024 of Vikas Vidyalaya, Ranchi, held from 12th to 14th December, showcased a dynamic mix of athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and cultural vibrancy. The event began with a warm welcome for the Chief Guest, Dr. Deonis Xess, Managing and Medical Director of Shalby Divine Superspecialty Hospital, Ranchi. He was honored by the Principal, Mr. P. S. Kalra, with a shawl, memento, and a planter. Students sang a melodious welcome song, followed by an energetic group dance celebrating the diversity of the nation, setting an enthusiastic tone for the event. Students then competed in a variety of sports events, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x400m relay, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, high jump, sack race, spoon and marble race, seated basketball throw, and tug of war.
Vikram House dominated the event, securing trophies for Best House in Academics, Cross Country, Sports (295 points), and the Overall Trophy (Cock House) with 427 points, while Luv House won the Best House in Co-Curricular Activities.
Individual accolades went to Chahat Raj (Grade 8) and Skanda Verma (Grade 9) for Best in Academics, and Bansh Raj (Grade 10) as Best in Sports at the regional level.
The Chief Guest, in his speech, highlighted the role of sports in achieving fitness and well-being, while the principal congratulated participants and emphasized true sportsmanship.
The event, efficiently compered by Sanobar Afreen and Samriddhi Das, concluded with a sense of pride and achievement.
